Knott's Berry Farm

Things to do in Buena Park for Adults

Buena Park, CA is known as one of the world’s most entertaining small towns, offering a variety of fun things to do in the OC. While it is deemed a family-friendly destination, there are plenty of fun things to do in Buena Park for adults.  This travel guide highlights top tourist attractions in Buena Park, the best dining spots, and the most comfortable places to stay, ensuring you make the most of your visit to this vibrant town.

Where is Buena Park located?

Buena Park is located in SoCal. It is 20 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

How to Get There

If you’re traveling to Buena Park, flying into either Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or Long Beach Airport (LGB) is best. Uber is the most convenient option for getting from either airport to your destination. I chose to fly into LGB to avoid the heavy traffic at LAX, especially during the late afternoon when I arrived. The drive from LGB to my hotel took only 30 minutes with traffic, compared to the 1-hour estimate from LAX.

Best Things to Do in Buena Park

Unleash Your Inner Child at Knott’s Berry Farm

Knott’s Berry Farm, America’s first theme park, is one of the top tourist attractions in Buena Park. It is famous for its fried chicken dinners, boysenberries (a hybrid berry consisting of Loganberry, Red Raspberry, and Blackberry), and an Old West Ghost Town. Hop on their exhilarating rollercoasters and thrill rides, watch a stage show, and play games.

I was lucky enough to catch their delicious Boysenberry Festival in the spring. The Knott’s Boysenberry Festival is an annual food and wine festival that infuses the boysenberry in savory dishes and specialty desserts and drinks.

Other fun seasonable events at the theme park include Knott’s Scary Farm at Halloween, and Knott’s Merry Farm around the holidays. With each event, Knott’s Berry Farm continues to weave cherished memories for visitors of all ages.

Buena Park Pirates Dinner Adventure

The Buena Park Pirates Dinner Adventure is an immersive and thrilling experience perfect for all ages. Set aboard an 18th-century Spanish galleon within a vast indoor lagoon, this dinner theater combines high-energy action with a delicious meal. As you enjoy a three-course feast, you’ll be captivated by daring acrobatic routines, impressive sword fights, and interactive storytelling, all while cheering for your assigned pirate crew. It’s an evening filled with excitement, laughter, and hearty cheers, making it a must-visit attraction in Buena Park.

Visit the Source OC

The Source OC is a Korean-inspired shopping mall in Buena Park that’s like a little slice of Korea right here in the States. Even though I haven’t made it to Korea yet, this place makes me feel like I’ve been transported there. With K-pop shops, Korean skincare boutiques, and mouth-watering international dining options, you can easily spend an entire day getting lost in the vibrant culture. Trust me, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking to dive into a Korean experience without the long flight!

Karaoke at EKO Lounge

Nothing screams fun louder than karaoke with friends. The EKO Karaoke Lounge is located in The Source OC and offers 16 gorgeous private Karaoke rooms. Equipped with state-of-the-art karaoke systems, even the most tone-deaf among us can sound like pros, thanks to its top-notch equipment and extensive song library. Additionally, EKO’s thoughtful touches, such as providing adorable microphone covers, add to the charm of the experience.

Dueling Piano Show at Beach Club Boulevard

One of the best things to do at night in Buena Park is to catch a dueling piano show at Beach Club Boulevard. This elegant speakeasy, designed to evoke the Prohibition era, features a lively burlesque pre-show followed by a dueling piano performance where pianists take audience requests. You’ll find yourself singing along to your favorite tunes while savoring classy cocktails and delicious bites. It’s an unforgettable experience that combines great music, entertainment, and a touch of nostalgia.

Eat

Buena Park is a foodie’s town! Here are some of my favorite restaurants I enjoyed during my stay:

Porto’s Bakery

Porto’s Bakery is a beloved family-owned gem that has been delighting taste buds with its original Cuban recipes since 1963. Once crowned Yelp’s #1 Restaurant in the Country, this spot is a go-to for breakfast in Buena Park. Indulge in their delectable pastries, savory sandwiches, and specialty beverages. I visited on a Sunday morning just before my flight home. Although the lines were massive, they moved surprisingly quickly.

Flippoly

Flippoly is another highly recommended restaurant at The Source OC. It is a delightful spot known for its mouth-watering egg sandwiches. Whether you’re craving a classic bacon and egg combo, an avocado and egg delight, or something with a unique Korean twist like bulgogi BBQ, Flippoly has something to satisfy every palate.

The Cauldron Spirits & Brews

If you’re a Halloween lover or just appreciate a well-executed theme bar, a visit to the Cauldron Spirits & Brews is a must. This enchanting, spooky bar transports you to a world of magic and mystery with its meticulously crafted decor, featuring dim lighting, and eerie accents. The Cauldron offers specialty cocktails and an array of delicious small plates and appetizers. This bar is extremely popular, they don’t accept reservations, but you should keep an eye out on Yelp Waitlist.

Gaucho’s Grill

If you’re searching for the best Argentine restaurant in Buena Park or the top steakhouse in Orange County, Gaucho’s Grill in Buena Park is an essential stop.  This restaurant offers lovers of authentic Argentine cuisine a rich dining experience with perfectly grilled meats, fresh salads, and traditional empanadas. The ambiance combines modern elegance with a cozy, welcoming vibe, perfect for casual dinners and special occasions.

Where to Stay in Buena Park

I spent two nights at the Courtyard Anaheim Buena Park, and it was super comfy and convenient. The hotel’s right across from Buena Park’s best dinner shows and within walking distance to most of the main attractions. My room was spacious, and the bed was incredibly comfy, providing me with a great night’s sleep that left me rejuvenated for a full day of exploration. Plus, the fitness center and outdoor pool were nice bonuses!

As you can see there is no shortage of fun things to do in Buena Park for adults. I had a blast exploring SoCal’s Fun City! I will definitely return during my next visit to Orange County!
